About Nancy

Hi, I’m Nancy. I’m an award-winning podcast producer and documentary audio journalist based in Minneapolis. I love the craft of audio storytelling and have a versatile background creating sound-rich narrative work as well as producing interview content on deadline.

What drives me is the creative satisfaction of bringing complicated, overlooked stories to life, especially when the process is a bit of a puzzle and involves in depth research and piecing together different elements. I’m naturally curious and inquisitive, with a focus on personal narratives and hidden histories. You can see this reflected in my portfolio of audio work, which includes character-driven features as well as deeply reported audio documentaries and podcasts.

I most recently served as a senior producer for ABC Audio’s award-winning limited-run narrative investigative podcast, Radioactive: The Karen Silkwood Mystery. Radioactive was named one of the best podcasts of 2024 by Amazon Music.

In 2024, I also worked with PRX as a senior producer to launch the inaugural season of Tomorrow’s Cure, a podcast from Mayo Clinic that unpacks the latest advances in medical innovation from 3D printing, to AI to the development of cancer vaccines.

In 2023-2024, I served as a senior producer on PRX’s limited-run anthology podcast Monumental, which was recognized as a Signal Award finalist for best audio documentary. Monumental features undertold stories about American Monuments and memorials with a focus on first-person narratives.

I’ve also worked as a contract producer to develop and launch new podcasts for Minnesota Public Radio and Lemonada Media as well as scoring and audio production for several APM Reports investigative podcasts. I have also produced two feature-length audio documentaries about 20th century Minneapolis history that have aired statewide on Minnesota Public Radio.

My reporting has appeared on NPR’s Weekend All Things Considered and Here and Now as well as the BBC, The World and Latino USA. I have been recognized with multiple awards for my radio and digital features reporting by the Minnesota chapter of the Society for Professional Journalists including best audio feature (2018).

I got my start in public media as a staff producer for On Being (2009-13) and American RadioWorks (later known as APM Reports, 2008-9). Earlier in my career, I ran educational programs for youth and adults in New York City.

I’m a graduate of the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies and hold a Master’s degree in Education from Harvard University and a BA in English from Haverford College.

In my free time, I dance and perform with Rueda de la Calle, a Minneapolis-based Cuban social dance group, and I’m a longtime board member with Contempo Physical Dance, Minnesota’s only Afro-Brazilian contemporary dance company.

When I’m not immersed in a Pro Tools session, you can find me playing with my dog Momo, who is always up for a game of fetch.
